Modern Podiatric Technology

Toronto Podiatrist uses microwave technology to treat verruca/warts.

Sheldon Nadal D.P.M. is now using microwave technology to treat warts in his Toronto foot clinic.

“I chose microwave technology because it is non-invasive, patients can resume their normal activities immediately, it has a high rate of success and most patients require only 1 to 3 treatments.”

How microwave wart treatment works

The microwave unit focuses on immune modulation instead of tissue destruction. It uses state of the art microwave technology and the body’s own immune system to destroy the verruca virus.

Instead of destroying the virus by burning, freezing it, or applying acid on it, the unit delivers a short, sharp dose of energy into the tissue to a predetermined depth, millimeters below the surface leaving the skin intact. As microwaves travel into the tissue, water molecules collide and create localized heat energy, which can destroy all infected tissue.  It activates the dendritic cells that signal the body that the virus is present, and T-cells clear all infected tissue.

In other words, it wakes up the immune system, allowing the body to fight back, often clearing warts in distal sites that haven’t even been treated.

Advantages of microwave vs traditional wart treatment

1) It uses microwaves to stimulate the body’s system to destroy the verruca virus.

2) It is non-destructive - surgery is not necessary, and chemicals and acids are not applied to the skin. No surgery means no downtime for you, less pain after the procedure, no bandage to change, no need to keep you foot dry and no interruptions in your daily life. Most patients can go for a long walk within minutes of the treatment.

3) It uses disposable applicator tips to reduce the chance of cross contamination.

If you would like to have your warts treated with microwave technology, please contact the Toronto podiatry office of Sheldon Nadal D.P.M. at 416-486-9917 for a private consultation.
