Foods to Eat for Maximum Foot Care

Our feet are able to endure tons of pressure – they are designed that way, making them awesome parts of the body. Good health also means having healthy feet. It’s not enough that you wear the right footwear; you should also consider the foods you intake that will be beneficial to our feet.

Bones

You probably have known or at least heard about how milk is good for the bones. There are other excellent sources of vitamin D and calcium such as cottage cheese and yogurt. There are non-dairy alternatives that give you the similar nutrition you need. These are:

*Salmon – This type of fish has omega-3 oil that is great for strengthening bones.

*Spinach – Just like what the cartoon character Popeye eats, this leafy green vegetable provides strength to the bones. This is a great alternative especially to those individuals who are lactose intolerant.

Muscles

Foot muscles seem unremarkable to some people – we often take them for granted and don’t think about them as much as we should. It is important to keep our foot muscles strong if we want to keep using them for a long time. Here are some of the foods that would do a lot of good to our foot muscles:

*Granola – This snack is high in carbohydrates as well as protein. This is great to eat especially after an intensive workout since it helps in rebuilding fatigued muscles.

*Cottage Cheese – This type of cheese is an excellent source of whey protein – great for building strong muscles.

*Cherries - They are not as famous as bananas, oranges and apples when it comes to nutrients, but they are actually full of antioxidants that help in reducing inflammation and relieving muscle soreness.

Ligaments

If you have ever suffered from a tear on your Achilles or plantar fasciitis, you know that the pain is crippling. If you do not want a repeat of that, it’s high-time you eat these foods to help take care of your ligaments:

*Pineapple – This fruit is full of enzymes that help in repairing strained ligaments. It’s delicious, too!

*Sardines - This is another excellent source of calcium, great for building strong ligaments.

*Broccoli – This vegetable is high in vitamin C – great in producing collagen which makes up our ligaments and tendons.

Skin

One of the most problematic things about our feet is the breaking down of skin as this makes walking painful. These foods help in keeping your skin in good shape as well as preventing the skin from peeling and cracking.

*Walnuts – To improve the elasticity of your skin, this type of nut is helpful as it contains omega-3 oils.

*Chocolate – It doesn’t just taste good, it also helps the skin. Chocolates contain flavonoids that help in absorbing UV light.

*Pomegranates – These fruits are full of antioxidants that help in keeping our skin healthy. You can either drink its juice or apply directly to skin.
