Common Cures for Foot Pain

At the end of each day, you might notice that your feet are tired. That’s normal because according to studies, a normal pair of feet absorbs about 1,000 pounds of force. As if that’s not bad enough, we even mistreat our feet – walking and standing on them for hours, walking on hard and uneven surfaces, and even wearing tight-fitting shoes that are only fashionable but not really comfortable. Still wondering why you’re having foot problems from time-to-time?

Since we often experience foot pain, here are some common cures to help us soothe our poor feet:

Hot and Cold Water

Hot-and-cold-water therapy surely does wonders! The hot treatment promotes good blood flow, and the cold treatment reduces inflammation. Fill two basins with water – cold and bearably hot, respectively. Dip your feet in the hot water for three minutes, and then do the same with cold water for at least 10 seconds or up to 1 minute. Repeat the whole process two or three times more – make sure to end with cold foot bath.

Vinegar

Vinegar can be used for various treatments as it helps reduces inflammation in foot pain caused by sprains or strains. Fill a tub with hot water and add two tablespoons of vinegar. You can also add salt. Soak feet for about 20 minutes.

Choose your footwear carefully.

This is not really a cure, but more of prevention. In order for you to get a good fit for any type of footwear, you should buy shoes at the end of the day – when your feet are tired and at their largest. The tendency if you buy earlier in the day, they might be too tight. You should measure both feet and make sure to fit the shoe to the larger one – your feet have different sizes. Never buy shoes without trying them out first. Even if you are confident of your shoe size, it’s still different when you get to try them on for yourself.
