"Sex in the City" star feels "Guilt about the heels"

According to an article on http://parade.condenast.com/ , "Sex in the City" star Kristin Davis says she feels guilty that she encouraged the show's viewers to wear high heels.

Her character on the show, Charlotte, was portrayed wearing high heel shoes almost constantly.

“I do feel guilt about the heels,” said Davis. "It did seem we were trying to say to women, ‘You should be wearing heels like these’.

"But it became a bigger picture thing, where it seemed women should be wearing them every day.”

Davis now tries to wear flats as often as possible. “I wear heels so rarely now. It hurts when I do – you have to get in training for them, and it takes a lot of practice,” she told the Sunday Telegraph.

According to http://www.telegraph.co.uk/, her fellow actor, Sarah Jessica Parker, did significant damage to her feet by constantly wearing high heels on the show

Toronto podiatrist Sheldon Nadal says that it is alright to wear fashionable high heels on special occasions. Otherwise it is a good idea to  wear  a supportive running shoe, or a woman's shoe with a heel that is less than two inches in height,  with orthotics if necessary, as a healthier alternative.  Constantly wearing high heels can result in shortening of the Achilles tendon at the back of the ankle. This can have negative effects on your gait and the way your feet function. Also high heeled pointy shoes can cause pain at the ball of the foot and can irritate pre-existing bunions and hammertoes.
